Get Ready to Celebrate Sonoma County Pride!

Sonoma County celebrates LGBTIQ Pride the weekend of May 30 – June 1 in Guerneville, CA. This year’s theme is “Free To Be”. Highlights of the weekend include welcoming receptions and specials at local merchants and restaurants from Friday through Sunday, dance party on Saturday night and a full day of celebration on Sunday with a parade down Main Street followed by a Pride Village on the town plaza with vendor booths. Other Sunday events include a Commitment Ceremony, Family Pool Party and an Interfaith Service.

Grand Marshals for this year’s parade are Mayors Carol Russell of Cloverdale, Robert Jacob of Sebastopol and Guerneville’s ‘unofficial’ mayor, Rodger Jensen (based at the R3 Hotel). The parade begins at 11am at the western end of Main Street and will progress west. As always, everyone is looking forward to an imaginative and diverse offering of floats, parade contingents and celebrants.
This year's planning committee is composed of involved citizens and small businesses and is graciously sponsored by The Russian River Chamber of Commerce. Funding is needed to offset fixed costs. Sponsorships to meet any offering are listed on the site below.

Creekside Park and Russian River Skate Park in Monte Rio
Opens to the Public Friday, May 23, 2014

MONTE RIO, CA –Known to many as Vacation Wonderland, Monte Rio is proud to celebrate the Grand Opening of Creekside Park on Friday, May 23rd at 11AM.  Featuring the Russian River Skate Park – the first new skate park in the Lower Russian River Area – this beautifully-planned park will boost tourism to this small riverside community.

Russian River Skate Park offers vert skaters plenty of ramps, ledges, stairs and other structures to practice on and the park is free of charge all year long.

Creekside Park is designed for people of all ages.  A one-third mile trail encircles the fully landscaped property where farm crops and orchard trees will be cared for by local volunteer gardeners.   Refreshments will be available at the Farm Stand Cafe where healthy choice snacks will be featured, many made from ingredients that will be coming directly from the on-site farm.

Grand opening celebrations begin at 11AM and will include speeches and announcements from County and local officials with the ribbon cutting honor going to 5th District Supervisor Efren Carrillo who has championed this project from its inception.
